Coalition General: We Will Continue Supporting YPG
WASHINGTON – Brigadier General Kevin J. Killea, Chief of Staff of the Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve, said on Friday that the US regards the People’s Protection Units (YPG) as a credible partner against Islamic State (IS).
General Killea said that the anti-IS coalition would continue to support the YPG, despite Turkish objections.
“The YPG for the coalition against ISIL has been a very credible and reliable partner as part of the Syrian-Kurdish group that comprises anti-ISIL forces,”

However, the coalition official also said that they support the Turkish right to self-defence against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
